If you're going to use a glass splashback installation service, you might be interested in the tips below.

Finish off any decor work several days before the splashback is installed

One great thing about glass splashbacks is their transparency, which can allow the beautiful tiles, wallpaper or paint you place behind it to show through. Before the splashback installation specialist fits this item, it's important to ensure that you're happy with the wall decor in the installation area (as it will be tricky to change it after the splashback has been fitted).

If you would like to, for example, add new tiles to this area or paint it a new colour, you should finish this work several days before having the splashback installed. The reasons for this is as follows: this will ensure that the tile grouting, wallpaper paste or paint that you have applied to this area has fully cured or dried before the splashback is placed on top of it. This, in turn, will prevent the transparent splashback from getting covered in smeared wet grouting, paste or paint.

It will also mean that if, after doing this bit of decorating, you notice some problems with your results (for example, if you spot a few creases in the wallpaper or you realise that you need to add an extra coat of paint to make the colour opaque), you will have enough time to correct these imperfections and still ensure that everything is dry in time for the installation.

Make the installation as easy for your installer to do as possible

There are several things you can do to simplify the installation of the splashback. First and foremost, you should take your furniture out of the kitchen so that there is enough space for the installer's workbench. They must use this workbench, rather than your kitchen table, as they will need to use a sharp tool called a track saw when cutting the glass to size and will need to apply adhesive to the glass afterwards. If these activities are done on a kitchen table, this furniture could end up scratched or covered in this sticky adhesive.

Secondly, you should make sure that the area you've decorated behind the installation area is as clean as possible. If there is any dust or leftover wallpaper paste in this spot, the adhesive on the rear of the splashback might not stick to the wall and the installer might have to remove this paste and dust themselves before trying to install the splashback a second time.
